Haute couture (French for “high sewing” or “high dressmaking”; pronounced [ot kutyʁ] OHT-koo-TOOR) refers to the creation of exclusive custom-fitted clothing.
That’s right. I’m going couture for my wedding dress. Just like Carrie. (Minus the bird. Maybe)
Who’s the designer?
ME.
I want this dress made so I can wear it right now. I’m so excited it’s ridiculous. It’s going to be so fabulous. Vintage inspired with modern flair, tea length and stunning.
So, now that I have the dress designed (mostly in my head) I needed a seamstress. Do I know one? Nope. Not that I was aware of.
Then the other day I was talking to my CEO’s assistant. She was asking about the wedding and what not. I told her I was having my dress made but didn’t know by who. Then she said something magical.
“Do you know Erica sews? She made her own wedding dress and all of her bridesmaids dresses. She does costuming for some of the theaters and she makes a lot of her own clothes.”
Erica is our impeccably dressed, meticulous and hard working receptionist.
I, of course, ran (walked somewhat briskly) to the front and asked her to sew my dress plus my sister’s and Savannah’s. She excitedly accepted and said she’d need to start in May. She asked that I give her some nice high-res photos for her portfolio. OF COURSE.
This. Wedding. Will. Be. So. FABULOUS.
