Seriously. Holy crap. 8 days.
Mike’s parents will be here in 5 days. His sisters, their dudes, some of his Aunts and Uncles, Nancy and Kristen will be here in 6 days. Then all hell breaks loose with the majority of people coming in on Friday.
Only about 30 of our guests are local. God bless the staff at Embassy Suites.
We still have some last minute things to do, but everything should be wrapped up by the weekend so we can enjoy the chaos that is about to ensue. We’ll try to post some blogs as we go. At least Facebook some pics!
In the mean time, this was our invitation. Hand-made by us. Glued each little jewel into the filigree individually and everything. It didn’t drive me batshit or anything. HA.
Can’t wait to see everyone!!

I ordered feathers for the hairpiece I want to make. Pretty, light, airy ostrich plums died champagne color. I ordered mini ones since they are just going to be tucked under a flower and the tips peeking out. The mini ones are supposed to be about 5-7 inches long and about 2 inches wide. Still a little long, but I can cut them since you don’t don’t see the ends. WIN!
My feathers arrived today and I was all excited! That is, until I opened the package. The note said they “upgraded” me…
Seriously, y’all. The hell? WTF am I supposed to do with those? I’m getting married! Not trying to be a Vegas show girl.
Note to vendors: An upgrade would be to throw something in free. Give me a discount. Something of that nature. Sending something I did not order and not sending what I did order means you done pissed me off and effed my shit up.
Now I gotta send this back, write them an ugly note and find my perfect feathers elsewhere.
UGH.

We are making a lot of our decorative items ourselves, since we are creative and crafty (ha!) people. It’s really important to us that every part of our wedding has personal touches, so we are DIY’ing up a storm. Doing all this means we need to make many trips to craft stores.
This is what happens when I take Mike to the craft store.
This, ladies and gentleman, is the man I’m marrying.
You should see what happens in a shoe store.
Fabric Flowers Created By The Crafting Challenged

Ever since I got engaged, I’ve been reading bridal blogs like I’m studying for a PHD in Bride-ology. And ever since I started reading them, I’ve been completely obsessed with hand-made fabric flowers. So, of course, I’m going to incorporate them into my wedding plans.
Few problems with that idea.
I’m not all that crafty. I’m super-creative, but in the “master-plan-idea” way. Execution isn’t always my strong point. Coming up with a vision, having someone else execute it and managing them is.
I’m talking about a serious amount of these little babies. On top of other crafty projects I probably have no business doing.
I have very limited sewing abilities. My mom actually sewed my final home-ec project for me in 8th grade because I suck so bad. (Jennifer Cook, please don’t tell your mom! I don’t want to have to repeat 8th grade because my superfly pink and purple plaid pillow was actually a Sandra Lastrapes creation.)
Did I tell y’all I suck at execution? Because I so do.
Luckily for me, my mom can both sew and is super crafty. So a few Saturdays ago we sat down and tried some out. Surprisingly, I can actually execute these! I’m not completely craft challenged after all! *Cue angels singing*
Here’s a few that we did. Some are made from scrap fabric, some from actual ones we’ll be using at the wedding. I love how they came out and can’t wait to see them all finished in their rightful projects!

First craft project for the wedding is about to get started.
Only about 5 million after this one.
